The computer technology industry is perhaps the most rapidly expanding industry in the world. Information technology can transform industry by improving efficiency and productivity. The Impact of information technology is not limited to industries and factories, it extends to individuals and to homes.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
Four levels of entry to the Diploma are permissible:
- Completion of the Core and Mandatory Modules of the IMIS Foundation Course provide entry to the Diploma level.
- Four GCSE/GCE/SC`O` level, one of which should be in English and one a numerate subject at grades A, B or C (for overseas students grades 1 to 6 or Credits / Distinctions are considered equivalent).
- Candidates 19 years of age and over with two years` work experience relevant to computing or a related field will also be eligible.
- Candidates 19 years of age or mare at the time of sitting for the Institute examination may be admitted at the discretion of the Examination Centre without the foregoing minimum entry requirements provided only that they can satisfy the staff at the Centre that they are sufficiently well motivated as to enable them to cope with the demands imposed by the course of study and that they possess appropriate ability even if not measured by the acquisition of `O` levels or equivalent.
HIGHER DIPLOMA (IMIS)
The Higher Diploma Course extends and compliments the Diploma to give students a comprehensive knowledge of the entire field of operations, programming, systems analysis and design, and computer management.
A Higher Diploma award equate to the Higher National Certificate/ Diploma (HNC/HND).
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
One of the following is required:
- Successful Completion of the Diploma level examinations.
- BTEC National Certificate/Diploma level in Computing.
- General Certificate of Education (or equivalent) with passes in 5 subjects normally including Mathematics and English at GCSE level (Grade C or better, `A` level in a computing subject and one other `A` level.

OCR LEVEL 1 CERTIFICATE FOR IT USERS (NEW CLAIT)
This is a qualification designed to recognised the skills, knowledge & understanding of IT users everywhere, whether in employment, education or training. Courses leading to a New CLAIT qualification will equip learners with the basic range of transferable skills necessary to meet the demands of the modern workplace, and will prepare learners for progression to further training and accreditation in IT User skills at level 2 and Level 3.
New CLAIT has been developed from the RSA CLAIT Stage I qualification.
In order to achieve the OCR Level 1 Certificate for IT Users (New CLAIT), candidates must achieve the core unit plus four optional units.

OCR LEVEL 2 CERTIFICATE FOR IT USERS (CLAIT Plus)
This is a qualification designed to recognised the skills, knowledge & understanding of IT users everywhere, whether in employment, education or training. Courses leading to the CLAIT Plus qualification will equip learners with the basic range of transferable skills necessary to meet the demands of the modern workplace, and will prepare learners for progression to further training in IT User skills at Level 3.
CLAIT Plus has been developed from, and replaces, IBT II, Databases II, Spreadsheets II, Desktop Publishing II and Cambridge Information Technology. It has been developed as a progression route from New CLAIT.
In order to achieve the OCR Level 2 Certificate for IT Users (CLAIT Plus), candidates must achieve the mandatory core unit plus three optional units.

NOTES ON SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS
The administration for both externally assessed unit and locally assessed units, which are available on demand, is identical.
OCR Level 1 & 2 Certificate in Administration
This qualification consists of five mandatory units. Units 1,3 and 5 are externally assessed and unit 2 and 4 are locally assessed and externally moderated. All five units are required for the full qualification.
OCR Level 2 Diploma in Administration
This qualification consists of all five units for the OCR Level 2 Certificate in Administration plus a Level 2 specialist option consisting of two units. Candidates must attempt both units from a scheme codes must be used when purchasing entries for specialist option units.
OCR Level 3 Diploma in Administration
This qualification consists of all five units from the OCR Level 3 Certificate in Administration plus a Level 3 specialist option consisting of two units. Candidates must attempt both units from a single specialist option. All specialist option units have their own scheme code. These scheme codes are different from the single scheme code used to purchase the OCR Level 3 Certificate in Administration. These scheme codes must be used when purchasing entries for specialist option units.
OCR Level 1 Certificate in Bookkeeping
This qualification consists of three units, one mandatory and two non-mandatory units. There are four non-mandatory units from which to choose. Of the units, units 2 and 3 address Manual Bookkeeping. All five units are externally assessed. The Level 1 Diploma in Bookkeeping consists of all five available bookkeeping units, one mandatory and four non-mandatory units. Centres purchase the Certificate and then the additional units at the unit entry price.
OCR Entry Level Certificate in Office Practice
This qualification consists of five units. In order to achieve the full qualification, candidates are required to achieve all five units. Units 1 and 3 are externally assessed through OCR-set and OCR- market examinations. Unit 2,4 and 5 are locally assessed and externally moderated.
OCR Level 4 Certificate in FE Teaching
This qualification consists of five mandatory units. Unit 1 is externally assessed by OCR. Units 2 onward are locally assessed and internally verified by the centre and externally verified by OCR. All units are required for the full qualification.
