ABE (ASSOCIATION OF BUSINESS EXECUTIVES)

The Association of Business Executives is a Business and management Studies.

The object of the association is the promotion and advancement of efficient administration and management in industry, commerce and the public service by the continued development of the study and practice of administration and management.
Examinations are held twice a year (1st week in June and December).

BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

CERTIFICATE

The four compulsory subjects are:

  • Introduction to Management
  • Introduction to Quantitative Methods
  • Introduction to Accounting
  • Introduction to Business Communication
DIPLOMA - LEVEL I

The four compulsory subjects are:
  • Economics
  • Management 1
  • Accounting
  • Business Communication and Presentation
DIPLOMA - LEVEL II

The two compulsory subjects are:
  • Management II
  • Quantitative Methods
Students must also sit three of the following options:
  • Principles of Business Law
  • Marketing
  • Cost & Management Accounting
  • Information Technology Management
ADVANCED DIPLOMA IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

The five compulsory subjects are:
  • Strategic Management
  • Human Resource Management
  • Financial Management
  • Case Study in Business Policy
  • Marketing Management

BUSINESS INFORMATION SYSTEMS (ABE)

CERTIFICATE

The four compulsory subjects are:

  • Introduction to the World of Computers
  • IT Applications and Skills
  • Introduction to Business
  • Introduction to Accounting
DIPLOMA I

The three compulsory papers are:
  • Computer Fundamentals
  • Computer Applications in Business & Finance
  • Business Communication
Students must also pass one of the following subjects:
  • Organisational Behaviour (Management Pathway)
  • Accounting (Finance Pathway)
DIPLOMA II

The four compulsory papers are:
  • Principles of Programming
  • Networks and Distributed Systems
  • Quantitative Methods
  • Systems Analysis
Students must also pass one of the following subjects:
  • Human Resources management (Management Pathway)
  • Managerial Accounting (Finance Pathway)
ADVANCED DIPLOMA

The four compulsory papers are:
  • Contemporary Application Development Methods
  • Managing Systems Change
  • Relational Database Applications in Business
  • Internet Systems Development
Students must also pass one of the following subjects:
  • Strategic Human Resource Management (Management Pathway)
  • Corporate Finance (Finance Pathway)

THERE IS NO EXEMPTION FROM ANY SUBJECT IN THE CERTIFICATE EXAMINATION

Registration Procedures

ABE Programmes are taught at institutions worldwide, and such institutions are given approval to run ABE courses only after they have submitted full details of their prospectus, teaching staff and site facilities which must meet the criteria set by the ABE office.

Student enrolling with a college are advised to ensure that the college has been formally accredited by the Association before enrolment. A list is available from the ABE office.

Student wishing to register with the Association should complete a registration form and return it to the Registrar together with appropriate fee, copies of educational qualifications (in English) and details of relevant working experience where necessary. Any incomplete applications will be returned.

All prospective students are advised to enrol with ABE at the commencement of their studies in other that their eligibility may be confirmed at that time.

Student should be aware of the closing dates for registration and examination as these are strictly adhered to. These dates are available at ABE approved colleges or from the ABE office.

Annual subscriptions fall due on the anniversary of the date of registration. An invoice will be sent direct to each student.

Certificate

Registration and Conditions of entry:
No formal qualifications are required but applicants must demonstrate competence in the following (or equivalent):

British Council - Intermediate Certificate in English/Upper Advanced Certificate in English

LCCI-English for Business (EFB) 1ST OR 2ND level

Pitman/City & Guilds-English for Speakers of Other language (ESOL)/English for Business Communications

RSA (OCR)-English language Stage II OR, Confirmation by their college of equivalent standard in the use of English.

The decision of Council as to the suitability of the candidate shall be final.

Students are not allowed to proceed to the Diploma until all four subjects have been passed and the Certificate has been awarded.
It is suggested that 80 study hours should be devoted to each subject.

Diploma-Parts 1 and 2

Registration and Conditions of entry:

Applicants should be recommended by two responsible persons. They must also have two attained one of the following entry requirements:

  • ABE Certificate in Business Administration.
  • Two GCS`A` levels together with four GCSEs at Grade C or above, including English and Maths.
  • BTEC National award awarded in relevant subjects.
  • Three passes in LCCI Third level in relevant subjects.
  • Four passes in RSA examinations at least two of which must be at Stage 111.
  • Pitman's Qualifications-Two passes at level 3 in relevant subjects.
  • An `Access` Certificate from a UK College of Further Education.
  • Any NCVQ approved qualifications at level 3in relevant subjects.
  • Such overseas qualifications which following University of London guidelines may be accepted by the Registrar as being equivalent to the above.

Advanced Diploma

It is recommended that students sit the Diploma Part 1&2 examination before attempting any subject in the Advanced Diploma.

  • ABE Diploma in Business Administration
  • A degree in a relevant discipline i.e. Business Studies, Business Administration, Management Science, Accountancy or Business Technology, awarded by a recognised UK or Overseas University.
  • Other recognised qualification of approved overseas Institutions of Higher Education.

It is suggested that 150 study hours should be devoted to each subject.
No exemption is granted from any subject in the Advanced Diploma Examination.
